At Dance for Life on August 19, 2017,
a new partnership was announced between
Chicago Dancers United and Howard Brown Health
Howard Brown Health is a great option for dance professionals to receive health care.
Chicago Dancers United is now in its 27th year of giving grants to members of the dance community who have experienced serious health or other life issues causing financial distress. The two organizations are collaborating around the Dancer’s Fund, outreach, and health education to the dance community.

Founded in 1974, Howard Brown Health provides full spectrum community healthcare and wellness services for all people regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or insurance status. Now citywide, Howard Brown’s eight convenient locations are in the following neighborhoods: Edgewater, Englewood, Hyde Park, Lakeview, Rogers Park and Uptown.

To help make healthcare accessible, Howard Brown offers primary care, behavioral health, and sexual wellness services on a sliding scale. Students, artists, and individuals who rely on the service economy are especially welcomed.

The Dancers’ Fund provides financial assistance (grants) to dance community professionals dealing with critical health and other issues creating a significant financial, emergency, or catastrophic hardship. . The fund offers assistance in, but not limited to, the following areas: housing, utilities, insurance, medication and travel. Dance for Life is the event which is largely responsible for supporting the Dancers’ Fund of Chicago Dancers United, a 501(c)(3).
